Brass buttons | Cotula coronopifolia

    Description

Brass buttons (Cotula coronopifolia) is a charming marginal pond plant, ideal for adding long-lasting colour around the water’s edge. This pretty creeping plant produces numerous bright yellow, button-like flowers from May to October, creating a cheerful carpet of colour through the main pond season.

Suitable for full sun to part shade, Brass buttons works well in a range of pond-side positions, from the edges of wildlife ponds to damp borders and boggy areas. Its slow growth rate makes it easier to manage, helping you maintain a neat, low-growing mat without rapid spreading.

As a marginal plant, Cotula coronopifolia helps soften hard pond edges and contributes to a more natural look, offering low cover and structure around the shallows. This type of planting can support a healthier pond environment by providing shelter and resting spots for a variety of small pond wildlife.

      Care Instructions

Brass Buttons (Cotula coronopifolia) thrives best in full sun to partial shade, making it versatile for various garden spots. This slow-growing marginal prefers moist, boggy soil where it can easily self-seed and spread. For early blooms, sow seeds under glass in February or March or directly outdoors in April or May. Once established, Brass Buttons will naturalize effectively in damp conditions, providing low-maintenance, long-lasting yellow flowers from May through October. Although it favors moist soil, regular watering helps it adapt to well-drained soils. Use this charming plant in borders, rock gardens, or containers to add a cheerful splash of color and support local pollinators. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely to ensure healthy growth and continuous blooming.

      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.
