Bring colour, height and seasonal interest to your pond edge with our colourful marginal pond plant kits. Choose from Grower’s Choice packs of individually planted marginals or a ready-planted contour basket for an instant pond-edge feature.

Our Grower’s Choice kits are available in three plant sizes and quantities. As a guide, the 3 x 1 litre kit provides a useful amount of marginal planting for ponds up to approximately 0.5m², the 6 x 9cm kit for ponds up to approximately 1m², and the larger 4 x 3 litre kit for ponds up to approximately 3m².

These pond-size recommendations refer specifically to the amount of marginal planting supplied rather than a complete planting scheme for the whole pond. The kits are equally useful for larger or established ponds where you want to fill gaps, introduce more flowers and foliage, or add stronger points of colour and structure.

Plants are selected by our growers shortly before dispatch, based on health, vigour, seasonal condition and ornamental interest. Wherever possible, we choose a varied combination of heights, growth habits, foliage and flowers, allowing us to send strong plants suited to the season rather than being restricted to a fixed species list.

For a ready-planted option, choose our Mixed Marginal Pond Plants – 8 Litre Contour Basket. Four complementary marginal plants are planted together in a curved aquatic basket, creating an established feature that can be added to any pond with a suitable shallow shelf.

Marginal plants also provide useful habitat around the pond edge, with emergent stems and foliage offering shelter and cover while flowering varieties can provide feeding opportunities for pollinating insects.
