Cowslip | Primula veris

    Description

The Cowslip (Primula veris) is a charming native wildflower, ideal for adding a natural, cottage-garden feel to damp borders and pond edges. This moisture-loving perennial produces several clusters of small, nodding yellow flowers on stems reaching around 15 cm, creating a soft haze of colour from April to June.

Thriving in full sun to part shade, Cowslip is well suited to informal wildlife gardens and naturalistic planting schemes. Its slow growth rate makes it easy to manage in smaller spaces, where it can gradually form attractive clumps without becoming invasive.

As a moisture lover, Primula veris is perfect for reliably damp soil near ponds or streams, where it helps to soften hard edges and blend water features into the surrounding garden. Flowering in spring, it offers early-season interest and contributes to a more diverse, wildlife-friendly pondside planting scheme.

      Care Instructions

Light: Cowslips (Primula veris) grow best in full sun to part shade, making them versatile for various garden spots.

Watering: These moisture-loving plants prefer consistently damp soil that is well-drained. Ensure the soil remains moist but not waterlogged for healthy growth.

Pruning: To keep your cowslip looking its best, trim back any dead or damaged foliage in autumn. This helps prepare the plant for the next growing season.

Growth Rate: With a slow growth rate, cowslips are low maintenance and ideal for gardeners seeking a gradual, long-lasting display of bright yellow flowers from April to June.

Following these simple care steps will help your cowslip thrive, adding a cheerful, natural yellow accent to your garden year after year.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.

      Returns & problems on arrival

Because we sell live aquatic plants and molluscs, some parts of our policy work differently from standard retail.

Live plants and molluscs are perishable and are not suitable for routine returns once they have been prepared for dispatch.

If there is a genuine issue on arrival, please contact us within 24 hours using the form on our Contact page, with your order number, photographs, and a short explanation.

We will always review genuine issues carefully and fairly. Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate remedy may include a replacement, refund, or partial refund where appropriate.
