Houttuynia cordata 'Boo Boo'

    Description

Houttuynia cordata 'Boo Boo' is a striking marginal pond plant grown for its colourful, scented foliage and long flowering season. This compact variety has crinkled leaves that develop rich, darker tones than the well-known ‘Chameleon’, turning bright red in autumn for an eye-catching display at the water’s edge.

From May to September, Houttuynia cordata 'Boo Boo' produces small white flowers that add a delicate contrast to the bold foliage. Thriving in full sun to part shade, it suits a wide range of pond-side positions and brings reliable, medium-paced growth without becoming overwhelming.

As a marginal plant, Houttuynia 'Boo Boo' helps soften pond edges, offers shelter for aquatic wildlife, and contributes to a more natural-looking pond margin. Ideal for UK gardens, it works well in baskets along the shallows of wildlife ponds, ornamental water features, or boggy borders.

      Care Instructions

Houttuynia cordata 'Boo Boo' is a low-maintenance plant that thrives in full sun to part shade, making it versatile for many garden settings. It grows at a medium rate, developing rich foliage that changes colour beautifully in autumn. To keep your plant healthy and looking its best, trim back any dead or dying foliage in the autumn after it has finished its seasonal colour display. Regular tidying by trimming as needed will help maintain a neat appearance. This marginal plant adds vibrant colour and texture with minimal effort, making it an excellent choice for borders, rock gardens, or edging. Ensure it has adequate light between full sun and partial shade for optimal growth throughout the growing season.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.

      Returns & problems on arrival

Because we sell live aquatic plants and molluscs, some parts of our policy work differently from standard retail.

Live plants and molluscs are perishable and are not suitable for routine returns once they have been prepared for dispatch.

If there is a genuine issue on arrival, please contact us within 24 hours using the form on our Contact page, with your order number, photographs, and a short explanation.

We will always review genuine issues carefully and fairly. Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate remedy may include a replacement, refund, or partial refund where appropriate.
