Large Pond Plant Kit for Ponds up to 6m²

    Description

Create a varied and naturally planted pond with a carefully curated selection chosen for different depths and planting zones.

This large pond plant kit is designed for garden and wildlife ponds up to 6m². It provides a substantial foundation of marginal, deep-water, surface-covering and submerged planting, with enough variety to bring colour, height, texture and movement to the pond.

The kit includes eleven marginal pond plants in 1 litre aquatic baskets, selected to provide an attractive combination of flowers, foliage, upright structure and lower-growing cover. Two water lilies and an additional deep-water plant, or further water lily, add seasonal interest and floating leaves, while the floating plants provide further surface cover. Twenty-five bunches of oxygenators provide useful submerged growth and help support a healthier pond environment.

We review the selection each week and choose the best available plants for the kit, taking account of their seasonal condition, suitability and how effectively they work together. The individual varieties may therefore change during the year, but the overall balance and purpose of the kit remain carefully considered.

The exact plants currently included are displayed further down this page. You can see each plant, its size and the quantity supplied before placing your order. Click on any of the plants shown to view further information, images and individual planting guidance.

This provides greater clarity than a traditional grower’s-choice pond plant kit, where the varieties are selected when the order is prepared and cannot be confirmed in advance. Our grower’s-choice kits remain an excellent-value option for customers who are happy to leave the final selection to our nursery. This curated kit is ideal when you would prefer to see exactly what you will receive before ordering.

All thirteen potted plants are supplied established in 1 litre Finofil aquatic baskets. They do not need to be repotted and can be positioned directly in the pond at the appropriate planting depths. The floating plants are supplied as two packs of five plants, and the oxygenators as five packs of five bunches.

This kit provides a substantial foundation for planting a pond up to 6m². The amount and type of any additional planting required will depend on the pond’s depth, shape, shelf space, aspect and plants already present.

If you would like to add more submerged growth, explore our full collection of oxygenating pond plants. You can also add further marginal plants for more colour and coverage or use moisture-loving plants to soften the damp ground surrounding your pond, or floating plants if you want more surface cover.

      Growing Instructions

Different parts of a pond provide different growing conditions. Before positioning the plants, use our Pond Planting Zones Guide to identify the shallow margins, deeper water and other planting areas within your pond.

Our Balanced Pond Planting Guide provides further help with distributing plants, retaining some open water and deciding whether your pond would benefit from additional planting.

Oxygenating plants are seasonal, and different varieties grow and perform in different ways. You may wish to supplement the supplied bunches with additional weighted, floating or potted plants from our oxygenating pond plants collection. Our Oxygenating Plants Guide explains the available options.

Our pond planting and care accessories include gravel packs for topping aquatic baskets and other useful planting supplies. You can also add barley straw for pond algae control as a natural, preventative aid to good pond care.

For planting beyond the waterline, browse our moisture-loving plants to add colour, texture and structure to the damp ground surrounding your pond.

      Care Instructions

Check the plants displayed on this page to see the exact selection currently included. Click on any individual plant for detailed information about its preferred position, planting depth and care.

Position each plant according to the planting depth shown on its label and individual product page. Distribute the marginal plants around the available pond shelves, allowing enough room for them to develop rather than placing all the baskets closely together.

Place the water lilies and other deep-water plant where they have sufficient depth and space to develop. Add the floating plants directly to the water and place the bunched oxygenators into the pond in accordance with the supplied instructions.

Remove dead or damaged foliage when required and manage the spread of plants as they establish. Seasonal growth varies between plant types, so do not be concerned if some plants emerge, flower or die back at different times.

      Wildlife Tips

Planting at different depths helps create a more varied pond habitat. Marginal foliage can provide shelter and useful access around the water’s edge, while water-lily and floating-plant leaves offer surface cover and resting places for visiting insects. Submerged growth adds further underwater structure for small aquatic life.

For the greatest wildlife value, retain some open water, allow the plants room to develop and avoid using chemical treatments wherever possible.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.

      Returns & problems on arrival

Because we sell live aquatic plants and molluscs, some parts of our policy work differently from standard retail.

Live plants and molluscs are perishable and are not suitable for routine returns once they have been prepared for dispatch.

If there is a genuine issue on arrival, please contact us within 24 hours using the form on our Contact page, with your order number, photographs, and a short explanation.

We will always review genuine issues carefully and fairly. Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate remedy may include a replacement, refund, or partial refund where appropriate.

Please do not send anything back unless we have agreed this with you in writing first.
