Nymphaea ‘Xiafei’ is a compact red water lily ideal for adding rich colour to smaller ponds and water features. Bred in China and introduced in the early 21st century, this free-flowering lily produces petite, deep red blooms held above attractive green foliage edged with scarlet.
This hardy water lily (Nymphaea) thrives in full sun, flowering reliably from June to September to provide a long season of interest. Its small growth habit makes it well suited to modest-sized ponds or the shallower zones of larger water gardens where space is limited.
Like other water lilies, Nymphaea ‘Xiafei’ offers valuable surface cover, helping to shade the water and reduce excessive sunlight. The floating leaves can contribute to a more balanced pond environment, while the open flowers provide a useful source of pollen for visiting insects in summer.
