Ragged robin | Lychnis flos-cuculi

    Description

Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) delivers a splash of deep rose‑pink to any garden. Its branched stems carry lance‑shaped leaves and cluster of star‑shaped blooms, each petal split into four narrow segments, arriving from May to August. Ideal for marginal beds, it thrives in moist soil and prefers full sun to part shade. The plant grows slowly, keeping maintenance low, and its delicate flowers make it a graceful accent for a naturalistic setting. A perfect choice for a low‑maintenance garden that still offers a vibrant burst of colour.

Because of its modest growth habit, Ragged Robin is an excellent companion for other margin plants, woodland borders, or a sunny gravel edge. Its preference for consistently moist soil means it will thrive in rain gardens, pondsides, or shaded lawn edges where water accumulates. Even in partial shade, the pink blossoms remain vivid, adding a touch of romance to any landscape.

      Care Instructions

Ragged Robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) is a low-maintenance marginal plant that thrives best in full sun to part shade. To keep it healthy, plant in consistently moist soil, making it ideal for pond edges, rain gardens, or areas where water tends to collect. This slow-growing perennial requires little attention throughout the growing season.

In autumn, after the foliage has died back, trim the stems just above the water surface or soil line to maintain a tidy appearance and promote healthy growth next season. Avoid letting the soil dry out to support vibrant, long-lasting blooms that appear from May to August. Perfect for naturalistic garden settings, Ragged Robin adds a charming splash of rose-pink color with minimal upkeep.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.
