Red leaved lobelia | Lobelia fulgens 'Queen Victoria'

    Description

The Red leaved lobelia (Lobelia fulgens 'Queen Victoria') showcases striking purplish‑red foliage that pairs beautifully with its brilliant red flowers. With a deep, velvety leaf texture, this marginal plant adds a bold hue to garden borders, rock gardens, or raised beds, creating a dynamic contrast against lighter perennials.

It thrives in full sun to part shade and blooms in August and September, offering seasonal color. Its natural die‑back and slow growth make it a low‑maintenance yet striking addition to any herb or ornamental garden.

Add this Red leaved lobelia to your garden borders, raised beds, or container displays for a splash of color that’s easy to grow and enjoy. Because it dies back naturally, it adds a new growth cycle to your garden, enhancing interest in both summer and winter. Its fragrance and form make it a companion for lavender, catmint, or ornamental grasses.

      Care Instructions

Red leaved lobelia (Lobelia fulgens 'Queen Victoria') thrives best in full sun to part shade, making it versatile for various garden settings. This marginal plant has a slow growth rate, requiring minimal maintenance. To keep your lobelia looking neat, prune it occasionally to tidy up the plant. However, allow the foliage to die back naturally in winter, as this process encourages the formation of new buds for the next growing season. Plant it in borders, rock gardens, or containers where its striking purplish-red leaves and bright red flowers can be showcased. Regular, but moderate watering is sufficient; avoid overwatering to prevent root issues. This easy-care plant is perfect for adding seasonal color from August through September while enhancing your garden's visual interest throughout the year.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.
