Siberian flag | Iris sibirica

    Description

Siberian flag (Iris sibirica) is an elegant marginal pond plant, valued for its graceful foliage and striking blue flowers. In June and July it produces free-flowering blooms with a distinctive white and yellow throat, adding a refined splash of colour to the pond edge or a damp border.

This Iris sibirica thrives in full sun to part shade and has a slow growth rate, making it a good choice where you want long-lasting structure without rapid spreading. Despite its common name, Siberian flag is actually native to Europe.

As a marginal plant, it is ideal for planting at the water’s edge, where its upright leaves help soften hard pond margins and provide shelter for aquatic wildlife. Like all irises, the tubers are harmful if eaten, so it is best sited where pets and children are unlikely to disturb it.

        Care Instructions

Sunlight: Siberian Flag thrives in full sun to part shade, making it versatile for different garden locations.

Soil and Water: Plant in damp soil that remains moist but avoid waterlogged conditions. Ensure the crown of the plant stays above the water surface to prevent rot.

Growth Rate: This iris has a slow growth rate, spreading gently in your garden over time.

Maintenance: After the foliage dies back in autumn, cut it back to just above the water surface. If trimming is delayed until spring, be cautious not to damage the emerging shoots.

Following these simple care steps will keep your Siberian Flag healthy and vibrant, enhancing your garden with its elegant blue blooms each summer.

        Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
        Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.
