Spiked water milfoil | Myriophyllum spicatum (5 Weighted Bunches)

    Description

Spiked water milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) is a true underwater oxygenating plant, ideal for improving water quality and clarity in garden ponds. This fast-growing oxygenator stays submerged, with attractive reddish foliage arranged in delicate whorls of four along the stems.

In late spring to early summer, Spiked water milfoil produces small white flowers from May to June, adding subtle seasonal interest beneath and at the water’s surface. It thrives in full sun to part shade and is suitable for still or slow-moving water, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of pond designs.

As a submerged oxygenating plant, Myriophyllum spicatum helps support a healthy pond ecosystem by contributing underwater cover and structure where aquatic wildlife can shelter. Its vigorous growth makes it particularly useful in new or developing ponds where additional oxygenation and plant mass are needed.

For help choosing the right types and quantities of oxygenating pond plants for your pond, see our Oxygenating Pond Plants Guide.

        Care Instructions

Spiked water milfoil thrives in full sun to part shade and is ideal for still or slow-moving pond environments. You can easily add this fast-growing oxygenator by dropping a weighted bunch directly into the pond. For optimal growth and stability, plant it in pond soil where it can establish a strong root system. Once established, the plant can grow at depths of up to 3 meters. Its rapid growth helps improve water quality by oxygenating the pond while providing shelter for fish. Regularly monitor the plant’s growth to prevent overgrowth and maintain a balanced aquatic ecosystem.

        Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
        Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.

        Returns & problems on arrival

Because we sell live aquatic plants and molluscs, some parts of our policy work differently from standard retail.

Live plants and molluscs are perishable and are not suitable for routine returns once they have been prepared for dispatch.

If there is a genuine issue on arrival, please contact us within 24 hours using the form on our Contact page, with your order number, photographs, and a short explanation.

We will always review genuine issues carefully and fairly. Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate remedy may include a replacement, refund, or partial refund where appropriate.
