Water spearmint, Preslia cervina | Mentha cervina

    Description

Water spearmint (Preslia cervina | Mentha cervina) is a charming marginal pond plant with a distinctive spearmint scent. Ideal for planting at the water’s edge, it thrives in full sun to part shade, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of UK ponds and water features.

This aromatic marginal produces attractive lilac-purple flower heads from July to October, adding soft colour and interest through late summer and into autumn. Its medium growth rate makes it a manageable option for both new and established pond schemes.

As a marginal plant, Water spearmint helps to soften pond edges and can contribute to a more natural look around the waterline. Marginal plants also offer valuable cover and structure at the pond margin, helping to create a more wildlife-friendly habitat.

      Care Instructions

Water Spearmint (Mentha cervina) thrives best in full sun to part shade, making it a versatile marginals plant for various garden settings. To maintain its lush, aromatic foliage and attractive lilac flowers, trim the plant as needed throughout the growing season. This helps promote healthy growth and keeps the plant tidy. With a medium growth rate, Water Spearmint is easy to manage, whether planted in garden borders, water gardens, or herb beds. Regular pruning also encourages a more compact shape and enhances the release of its characteristic spearmint scent. Ensure the soil remains moist, especially in warmer weather, to support vibrant leaf development and flowering from July to October. Incorporating Water Spearmint into your garden adds not only visual appeal but also a natural fragrance that attracts pollinators, making it a valuable and low-maintenance choice for any landscape.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.

For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.
