White Cardinal flower | Lobelia siphilitica alba

    Description

White Cardinal flower is a stunning marginal plant featuring bright white flower spikes that rise gracefully above light green lanceolate leaves. It thrives in full sun to part shade, making it versatile for a range of garden settings.

Blooming in August and September, this slow‑growing variety offers a long, dramatic display of pure white petals that contrast beautifully with darker foliage. Its slow growth rate allows for easy integration into borders, rock gardens, or mixed beds without overwhelming other plants.

Ideal for adding a touch of elegance to garden margins, the White Cardinal flower encourages natural winter bud formation when the foliage dies back, ensuring year‑round interest. Perfect for gardeners seeking low‑maintenance yet striking visual impact.

Planting the White Cardinal flower in well‑drained soil and maintaining a moderate mulch layer enhances its winter resilience and keeps soil moisture stable, ensuring healthy growth during cooler months.

      Care Instructions

The White Cardinal flower (Lobelia siphilitica alba) thrives best in full sun to part shade, making it a versatile choice for various garden locations. This slow-growing marginal plant requires little maintenance—simply trim it occasionally to keep it tidy. Allow the foliage to die back naturally in the fall, as this helps promote healthy winter bud formation for the next growing season. Plant it in well-drained soil and apply a moderate layer of mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and protect roots during colder months. With minimal care, this elegant plant will provide striking white blooms and enhance your garden margins year-round.

      Ordering, Shipping, Tracking and Returns
      Ordering & delivery

Some products are ready for immediate dispatch, while others are sold for a later delivery period so that they can reach you in good condition and at the right point in the growing season.

The expected delivery period for the product or variant you choose will be shown below the Add to basket button and again in the basket and checkout.

30 litre plants and some larger items are sent by specialist pallet delivery rather than standard parcel.

If your order contains products with different delivery timings, it may be split into more than one shipment. Plants or products that are ready for immediate dispatch will normally be sent first, while later-season plants will be sent when they are ready. This helps us send live plants at the appropriate point in the season and in suitable condition to travel.
